Valentine's Gift to His Daddy

Baby Andrew gave his daddy the most beautiful Valentine's Day gift! Typically, we aren't big on doing things for V day. I hate the crowded restaurants and long waits for eating out, and even though flowers are nice, I'd rather get them on random days than on a love holiday :P. Chocolates are my favorite, but of course with the gestational diabetes, completely out of the question. So what did we do? We decided to just hang out at the mall for a while, eat something at the food court and then go see a movie.

We always have a great time when we're together, pretty much no matter what we're doing. We had a nice evening, but the movie was the best - and not because the movie was good, lol. It was what happened during the movie that was so awesome.

As a bit of background, I've been feeling our baby move around a lot more lately. It's the coolest, most beautiful feeling in the world! But so far, he hasn't been kicking hard enough for George to feel anything from the outside. Then, about halfway through the movie, I started feeling some strong kicks. Out of curiosity, I put my hand on the top of my belly. Sure enough, I could feel it from the outside!

At first, I thought, should I tell George? Or am I interrupting the movie? But when Andrew kicked again, I knew I had to say something. I leaned over and took George's hand in mine, placing it on my belly where I'd felt the kicks. He looked over at me, questioning. I whispered, "I can feel him kicking." His eyes grew wide. "From the outside?" I smiled and nodded.

We sat like that for about twenty minutes and nothing happened. I was about to give up, thinking George must be uncomfortable with his arm contorted toward me. But then !!! There it was! A strong kick right where George's hand was. His head flipped toward me, his eyes open so wide with wonder! It was one of the most beautiful moments of my life. George kept his hand there for the rest of the movie and felt the baby kick several more times. It was truly the most amazing Valentine's Day EVER!

My New Blog!

Welcome to my new blog! I'm so excited to be moving on to a blog where I can share news about my growing family. I want this to be a happy place where I can post pictures of my growing baby bump, share the story of Andrew's birth, and starting this summer, post pictures of Andrew as he grows up. I can't wait!

Some of you are family or close friends just wanting to stay in touch or stay updated. I know that some of you are following me here from my blog where I talked about my struggles with becoming pregnant. No matter how you got here, I am so grateful to have you join me in my new space. The fact that you're reading shows that you care and that truly means the world to me.

Also, I want to say a big thank you to Faith at A Design of Faith for the amazing blog design! I LOVE it! Also, thank you to Libby Pritchett, the creator of the super cute digital scrapbooking kit this design is based on. If you love it, it's called Pickles & Ice Cream and you can find it here.

As an quick update, I am currently 22 weeks, 4 days pregnant with a baby boy! We are naming him Andrew George, and we couldn't be more excited about this pregnancy. It took us a while to get here, and we aren't taking anything for granted.

There is so much I want to say, but this intro post should do for now! I hope you'll check back here for more updates and add me to your blogroll. :) Oh, and please follow me through Google Friend Connect here on the left side of the blog! It looks so sad with no one on there yet, haha.
